Veteran Nigerian musician Friday Igweh, popularly known as Baba Fryo, has attributed the collapse of the marriage between music star Innocent Idibia (2Baba) and actress Annie Macaulay to lifestyle incompatibility stemming from their careers in the entertainment industry.

Speaking on the Honest Bunch podcast, Baba Fryo explained in Pidgin English that marriages where both partners are entertainers often face unique challenges, especially when neither partner plays the traditionally stabilising role in the relationship.

“2Face and his wife, the two of them, I will say they didn’t manage themselves well. They are both entertainers. Annie is an actress, and 2Face is a musician,” Fryo stated.

He added that in traditional marriage settings, when a man engages in vices such as drinking, it is expected that the woman would provide balance. However, when both partners exhibit similar behaviours, he questioned who would play the stabilising role.

“When a man is drinking, the woman will calm him. But if you marry a woman who also drinks, when you’re both drunk, who will take the other home?” he asked.

Baba Fryo also made a personal revelation about 2Baba’s current partner, Natasha, claiming he had known her since she was a child. “Even 2Face’s current lover, Natasha, is someone I have known… I once carried her on my lap when she was just three years old,” he said.

2Baba and Annie Macaulay announced their separation on January 26, 2025, after months of speculation. In a statement posted on Instagram, 2Baba confirmed that the couple had been separated for some time and were in the process of filing for divorce. Annie later affirmed the split and acknowledged the ongoing divorce proceedings.
