ABIODUN HAILS OGUN WORKERS’ ROLE IN STATE DEVELOPMENT, REITERATES REFORM COMMITMENT

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended civil and public servants in the state for their contributions to the development of the state, describing them as the backbone of governance and key drivers of his administration’s transformation agenda.
Speaking at the 2025 Public Service Day Celebration held at the Oba’s Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun, represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele. reaffirmed his government’s resolve to sustain reforms that enhance efficiency, transparency, and professionalism in the civil service.
“Public service innovation is not about reinventing the wheel but refining existing systems, streamlining processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement,” he said.
The governor noted that the ongoing digitalisation of public service operations is central to building a modern, responsive bureaucracy capable of meeting the evolving needs of citizens.
He appreciated the leadership and workforce for their dedication to service delivery, describing civil servants as “the lifeblood of governance” who work tirelessly to uphold public trust and implement government policies.
Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, lauded civil servants for their role in ensuring stability, urging them to remain focused and dedicated. He called on senior officers to motivate their subordinates for optimal productivity.
In a keynote lecture titled “Managing the Public Service for Excellence and Service Delivery in the 21st Century: The Role of Innovation, Adaptation and Technology,” Senator Shuaib Salis (Ogun Central) stressed that public servants are central not just to service delivery but to policy formulation and implementation.
The Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, praised the governor’s consistent prioritisation of workers’ welfare through projects and initiatives that have elevated the status of the Ogun State public service.
Chairman of the House Committee on Establishments and Public Service Matters, Hon. Babatunde Tella, described the day’s theme as a timely call to action, urging public servants to embrace innovation and resilience.
Trade Union Congress (TUC) Chairman, Comrade Akeem Lasisi, represented by Comrade Adebiyi Olusegun, acknowledged the government’s efforts on gratuities and training but called for renewed attention to the contributory pension scheme and release of promotion letters.
Former Head of Service, Elder Sola Adeyemi, also urged workers to adapt to new technologies to improve efficiency and enhance citizen engagement.
