Aiyedatiwa approves N33.8 billion OSOPADEC budget

Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved a N33.8 billion budget for the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC).
Aiyedatiwa made the announcement in Akure during the inauguration of the commission’s new board.
He explained that the funding — the highest allocation for OSOPADEC to date — would be used to address critical infrastructure gaps and ease the socio-economic challenges in the commission’s mandate areas.
“The budget will enable us to carry out vital projects in roads, schools, water supply, health centres, and housing. It will also strengthen youth and women empowerment schemes, scholarship programs, and skill-acquisition initiatives, in line with our administration’s development blueprint,” Aiyedatiwa said.
He called on the new board members to view their appointments as a call to service and a platform to make a measurable, positive impact in Ilaje and Ese-Odo.
Aiyedatiwa stressed that the inauguration was not a formality but a demonstration of his administration’s “unwavering commitment to good governance, effective service delivery, and transformative development.”
He further explained that with the OSOPADEC Act amended last year, the commission was poised to become more efficient, transparent, and purposeful in delivering its mandate.
The governor assured the board of his administration’s continued support — conditioned on their discipline, diligence, and measurable results — and called on traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, civil society organisations, and development partners to collaborate toward delivering a new era of peace, progress, and shared prosperity for Ilaje and Ese-Odo.
“It is a bold statement that OSOPADEC will not only function under this administration but will flourish and bring visible transformation to the lives of the people. Let us together make this a new dawn, where government truly works for the people.”
In response, the commission’s chairman, Prince Biyi Poroye, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to serve and assured the governor of the board’s preparedness, diligence, and total commitment to delivering on its responsibilities.
