Alex Iwobi etched his name into Premier League history on Sunday, delivering a standout performance in Fulham’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Craven Cottage. The Nigerian international provided a crucial assist for substitute Emile Smith Rowe, who netted Fulham’s equaliser in the second half. The contribution marked Iwobi’s 67th goal involvement in the English top flight, comprising 31 goals and 36 assists.

The 29-year-old midfielder now becomes only the third Nigerian to reach this milestone, joining Shola Ameobi and Kelechi Iheanacho in the prestigious club. He trails only Yakubu Aiyegbeni (121 goal contributions) and Nwankwo Kanu (83) among Nigerian players with the highest Premier League impact.

Iwobi, a graduate of Arsenal’s academy, played the full 90 minutes and was instrumental throughout the match. His composure, creativity, and work rate were evident as Fulham battled back from a Rodrigo Muniz own goal to secure a point against a determined Manchester United side.

Also featuring in the match was fellow Nigerian Calvin Bassey, whose involvement in a controversial penalty incident added drama to the encounter. Manchester United failed to convert the spot-kick, allowing Fulham to remain in contention.

Iwobi’s performance earned him the highest player rating of the match and further solidified his reputation as one of Nigeria’s most consistent exports in English football. With World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa looming in September, his form will be a welcome boost for the Super Eagles.
