Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has alleged that the ongoing feud between the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is rooted in a dispute over money sharing.

Amaechi asserted during an interview with DW on Saturday, describing the conflict between the two political figures as a tussle for financial control rather than a matter of principle or governance.

“It’s About Sharing Money” — Amaechi

“The fight between the current governor of Rivers State and the FCT minister is about sharing money,” Amaechi stated. “If not, what is the quarrel? Nigerians don’t dislike corruption again. I’ve not seen anybody on the street querying what the problem is. Can both of them speak to the public and tell us what the problem is about?”

Amaechi’s comments come amid escalating political tensions in Rivers State, which culminated in President Bola Tinubu declaring a state of emergency and suspending Governor Fubara from office. The former governor criticized the imposition of emergency rule, labeling it as unconstitutional.

Amaechi challenged both Wike and Fubara to publicly address the root of their conflict and explain their differences to the people of Rivers State. He expressed concern that the public is being left in the dark while political infighting takes center stage.

“Nigerians deserve to know the truth behind the crisis. Both men should come out and clearly state what the disagreement is really about,” he said.
