APC NAMES NEW ACTING CHAIRMAN FOR CROSS RIVER

Written by on December 4, 2025

The All Progressives Congress in Cross River State has appointed Ntufam Ekum Ojogu as its acting chairman following the impeachment of former chairman, Alphonsus Eba, over allegations of misappropriation of funds, high-handedness and non-payment of stipends to party officials across chapters and wards.

Ojogu was unveiled on Thursday at the APC Secretariat in Calabar, where he pledged to stabilise the party and strengthen its grassroots structures.

“I give profound thanks to Almighty God for His grace that has brought us to this moment. I am deeply humbled and honoured to stand before you today as the Acting Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Cross River State,” he said.

He added that Eba’s removal followed a vote of no confidence passed by party leaders, saying the decision was taken to restore accountability and order within the party.

“I thank every member who stood firm for due process and party stability. I extend my sincere appreciation to the Chapter Chairmen of the 18 Local Government Areas. Your dedication at the grassroots has kept the party’s flame alive,” he stated.

Ojogu commended chapter chairmen, ward executives, polling unit coordinators and volunteers for keeping the party machinery active.

He promised an open-door leadership style and assured members that he would remain accessible.

The acting chairman reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Bassey Otu and urged members to set aside differences and unite behind the administration’s development agenda.
