APC NWC DISSOLVES ENUGU EXCO, CLEARS OYEBANJI, OMOLAYO FOR EKITI GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARY

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the dissolution of its Enugu State Executive Committee and announced the composition of a seven-member caretaker committee to oversee the party’s affairs in the state.

This was part of resolutions reached at the 179th meeting of the NWC held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, October 9, 2025, under the chairmanship of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda.

A statement issued by the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, said the new caretaker committee would be inaugurated on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Members of the caretaker committee include Dr. Ben Nwoye as Chairman, H.E. Mrs. Fidelia Njoeze, Comrade Peter Chime, Dr. (Mrs.) Oji Abia, Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor, Engr. Emma Ekeh, and Rt. Hon. Eugene Odoh, who will serve as Secretary.

APC disqualifies Kayode Ojo from Ekiti gov’ship primary

Meanwhile, the NWC also deliberated on the report of the Ekiti State Governorship Aspirant Screening Exercise ahead of the party’s primary election scheduled for October 27, 2025.

Meseko announced that Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo were cleared to contest the party’s primary, while Engr. Ojo Kayode and Mrs. Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi were disqualified.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier fixed the Ekiti State Governorship Election for July 20, 2026.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, Meseko said the screening was conducted in line with party guidelines to ensure that only credible aspirants meet the requirements to participate in the exercise.

He also disclosed that the NWC approved the inauguration of several key committees, including the APC National Reconciliation Committee, chaired by Chief Bisi Akande, which will be inaugurated at a later date.

Other resolutions include the release of the timetable for party congresses across the country and the commencement of public hearings by the APC Constitution Amendment Committee within October 2025.

The statement added that the Anambra State Governorship National Campaign Council will also be inaugurated soon.

Meseko emphasized that the party remains committed to internal democracy, transparency, and inclusivity as it prepares for upcoming elections across the country.
