Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, said his administration has invested in the Nigeria Airforce aerodrome in Makurdi as commercial flights resume operation.

The governor, who stated this today at the resumption of commercial flights into the airport, said that his administration spent heavily for the procurement and provision of a Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority-approved Digital Airport Rescue Fire Fighting vehicle, along with training, equipping and testing of over 50 Fire Staff;

Ortom added that his government made provision for a subsidy to defray Air Peace against any unanticipated route risks; amongst others also said that it’s in the process of providing long-term accommodation for the Nigeria Airspace Management Authority Personnel as well as a Tent to protect the ARFF truck and serve as a rest area for the Fire personnel, among other commitments.

The outgoing governor commended the Minister of Aviation and his team, the NAF, NCAA, NAMA, NiMET, the Airport Manager and her colleagues as well as Air Peace for their cooperation and diligence in making the event possible.
