Nigeria Afrobeat Musician BNXN, formerly known as Buju, recently called out Instablog for spreading what he described as fake news after the platform posted a screenshot implying he had shaded Davido.
The screenshot, allegedly taken from @BNXN Instagram story, carried the phrase “Your papa get no be your asset,” which the blog suggested was a jab directed at Davido following his ongoing rivalry with Burna Boy. The post immediately gained traction online, with many fans interpreting it as another episode in the long-standing tension among Nigeria’s top Afrobeats stars.

However, BNXN quickly debunked the claim, describing it as fabricated and asking, “What’s the gain from this fake rubbish?”
The controversy sparked wider conversations about Davido and long-standing debates surrounding his wealth and lifestyle.
Over the years, critics and so-called online detectives have questioned Davido’s claim to luxury possessions, particularly his use of private jets.
Many argue that based on streaming numbers, concert revenue, and endorsement deals, no Nigerian artist currently earns enough to purchase and maintain a private jet. These arguments often point to Davido’s billionaire father, Deji Adeleke, as the true owner of the jets frequently associated with the singer.
In April 2025, Davido himself addressed the matter in an interview, clarifying that the Adeleke family owns two private jets which are mostly reserved for his professional travel and important family occasions. He admitted that maintaining them is extremely costly and stressed that not every member of the family has access to them.
This latest episode also revived discussions about Davido’s position within the so-called “Big 3” of Afrobeats alongside Wizkid and Burna Boy.
Online comparisons frequently highlight Wizkid and Burna Boy’s dominance in streams, international recognition, and chart performance, while downplaying Davido’s achievements by attributing his success to family wealth. Davido has in turn voiced his frustrations, stating in interviews that he is one of the most disrespected artists in Nigeria and often faces undue criticism from peers and fans alike.
The ongoing rivalry among the three continues to fuel division within the Afrobeats community, where fan bases clash over status, wealth, and global impact. While these tensions keep Afrobeats constantly in the headlines, they also reflect the pressure on artists like Davido, who must continuously defend both their artistry and their personal credibility in the face of public scrutiny.
