BREAKING: HEAVY SECURITY AT PDP HQ AS ABDULRAHMAN MOHAMMED ASSUMES ACTING CHAIR POST

Heavy security was deployed at the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja as Abdulrahman Mohammed, former Vice Chairman for PDP North Central, resumed his duties as the party’s acting national chairman.

Earlier, Mohammed and his supporters had gathered at the PDP’s FCT office, where he addressed the crowd and confirmed that he would assume the role of acting national chairman.

Mohammed was appointed acting national chairman by the Samuel Anyanwu-led National Working Committee (NWC) following the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, Umar Damagun, and National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

The crisis within the opposition party escalated over the weekend when Damagun and some NWC members announced the suspension of the party’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, National Organising Secretary Umar Bature, and other principal officers.

In a swift counter, Anyanwu led a faction of the NWC to suspend Damagun, Publicity Secretary Ologunagba, and four other top party officials, deepening the ongoing leadership turmoil in the PDP.

On Monday, Abdulrahman Mohammed, supported by the Samuel Anyanwu-led faction, resumed at the PDP national headquarters, while Damagun and his loyalists were notably absent.

Mohammed later addressed journalists at the party’s headquarters, outlining his role as acting national chairman.
