The Peoples Democratic Party has expelled FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, and eight other senior members for alleged anti-party activities.

The decision was taken today at the PDP National Convention in Ibadan, where the Umar Damagum-led faction also dissolved the party executives in Rivers, Abia, Imo, Plateau and Enugu States.

The motions for the expulsions and the dissolution of state excos were moved by PDP BoT member Chief Bode George and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who said the actions were in line with Section 33 of the party’s 2017 constitution.

The convention, holding at the Lekan Salami Stadium, is ongoing despite court disputes and factional disagreements rocking the party in recent weeks. Security has been tightened at the venue, with delegates arriving from across the country.

The crisis within the PDP deepened after a Federal High Court ruling attempted to halt the convention, while another order from an Oyo State High Court allowed preparations to continue. The matter has been adjourned to December 8.

For now, the PDP convention continues in Ibadan, with heavy attendance and heightened tensions over the new expulsions and dissolutions.
