The body of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport, Katsina, ahead of his burial in his hometown of Daura.

The aircraft conveying the remains touched down at approximately 1:59 p.m. on Tuesday. Accompanying the body were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and members of the late former president’s family.

On hand to receive the late leader’s remains were Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, members of the Katsina State Executive Council, and other high-ranking dignitaries, alongside grieving relatives and supporters.

Following the brief reception at the airport, Buhari’s body will be transported to Daura for burial, in accordance with Islamic rites. A military farewell will precede his interment, marking the final honours for the former military ruler and two-term civilian president.
