The Executive Governor of Katsina State, His Excellency Mallam Dikko Umar Radda, has commended the Nigerian Army for its unwavering commitment and sacrifices in addressing the security challenges confronting the state and the nation at large.

According to a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Governor Radda gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.

Governor Radda expressed satisfaction with the dedication and resilience of troops deployed in Katsina State, noting that recent security gains in the region were largely due to their selfless service and doggedness in the face of complex security threats.

“The Nigerian Army has shown extraordinary courage and sacrifice in confronting the security challenges facing Katsina and other parts of the country. We deeply appreciate the support and leadership provided by the Chief of Army Staff,” the Governor stated. He further thanked the COAS for his recent visit to Katsina, during which he personally engaged and motivated troops across various operational theatres, boosting morale and operational effectiveness.

Governor Radda also reiterated the Katsina State Government’s readiness to strengthen its partnership with the Nigerian Army, including plans to support the establishment of an additional Army unit in the state to further enhance security coverage. He praised the synergy between the Nigerian Army and the Katsina Watch Corps, emphasizing the importance of sustained collaboration in the fight against insurgency, banditry, and other criminal elements threatening peace in the region.

“The close cooperation between the 17 Brigade and our state government is a model for civil-military relations. It is this unity that will ensure we defeat our common enemies,” he added. In response, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, expressed appreciation for the Governor’s visit and his continued support for the Army’s operations in the state. He assured the Governor that the Nigerian Army remains resolute and committed to securing not only Katsina State but the entire country.

“We are grateful for the support we receive from the Katsina State Government and its people. That support is essential to our success, and we urge that it continues,” General Oluyede said. He reaffirmed the Army’s dedication to protecting law-abiding citizens, securing communities, and contributing to the overall stability and development of Nigeria.
