The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of popular social media personality Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, in connection with multiple cyberstalking allegations.
Speaking with BBC News Pidgin on Monday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that the arrest followed numerous petitions submitted by individuals alleging misconduct by the influencer.
“We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners,” Oyewale said. “He will be released once he meets the bail conditions, and we intend to charge him in court as soon as possible. We are operating strictly within the bounds of the law.”
Addressing speculation linking the case to Guarantee Trust Bank, Oyewale clarified that the petitions were filed by various individuals and were not specific to any corporate entity. He emphasised the commission’s responsibility to protect the rights of all petitioners.
Oyewale further disclosed that the commission is preparing to arraign Otse in court once investigations are concluded.
