Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
EFCC is investigating 14 Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) officials, including former chief executives Mele Kyari and Abubakar Yar’Adua, over alleged misappropriation of funds and abuse of office.
The commission requested certified copies of their emoluments and allowances, targeting both current and retired employees.
The investigation is linked to funds allocated for refinery rehabilitation. The EFCC confirmed the probe but did not disclose further details. Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu reconstituted NNPCL’s board on April 2, 2025, appointing Bashir Ojulari as Group CEO and launching a forensic audit of the company.
The administration aims to boost oil sector investments, raising production to two million barrels daily by 2027 and three million by 2030.
