The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land titles of 4,794 property owners across ten districts in Abuja due to non-payment of ground rents for over ten years.

Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, disclosed this during a press briefing at the FCT Administration’s headquarters in Abuja.

Olayinka revealed that a total of 8,375 property owners owe the Federal Capital Territory Abuja (FCTA) over six billion naira in unpaid ground rents. He further announced that the administration has extended the grace period for more than 3,500 landowners, giving them one last opportunity to settle their outstanding debts or risk losing their properties.

The affected districts include the Central Business District, Garki 1 and Wuse 1 and Maitama, Asokoro, and Guzape.

The FCTA’s move is part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with land regulations and recover outstanding debts owed to the government.{Channels}
