The federal government has reiterated its commitment to bridging Nigeria’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure deficit through robust Public-Private Partnership (PPP) frameworks.

Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Jobson Ewalefoh, made this known on Tuesday at the Nigeria Private-Public Partnership Summit 2025 held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.

Themed “Unlocking Nigeria’s Potential: The Role of PPPs in Delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda”, the two-day summit had Vice President Kashim Shettima in attendance.

Ewalefoh stated that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, infrastructure has been prioritised as a key engine of inclusive growth, with PPPs being promoted as a governance model anchored on innovation, efficiency, and accountability.

He cited several projects, including the Highway Development and Management Initiative, the Egini Medical Infrastructure Scheme, and the Dasin Hausa Dam, as examples of government-backed efforts to boost infrastructure through private sector participation.

The ICRC boss urged investors to leverage Nigeria’s welcoming business climate, stressing that the commission would ensure all PPP agreements remain legally sound, economically viable, and socially beneficial.

Also speaking, Vice President Shettima described the National Integrated Infrastructure Masterplan (2020–2043) as Nigeria’s strategic guide to increasing infrastructure contribution from 35 to 70 per cent of the GDP.

He emphasised that achieving this target would require strong synergy between the public and private sectors, assuring stakeholders that the Tinubu-led administration remains committed to creating a conducive environment for investment and sustainable development.
