The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has launched a five-year strategic plan to drive the 11country’s internal security.
Aregbesola stated this in his remarks yesterday at the launch of the Five Year Strategic Plan of the ministry and its services/board in Abuja
Aregbesola noted that the plan would capitalise on the ministry’s strengths and position to significantly impact the critical issues bordering Nigeria’s internal security.
The minister said, “The Ministry of Interior is integral to national security and prosperity in a way that many do not readily grasp. These are done through the four services of Nigeria Immigration Service; Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps; Nigeria Correctional Service; and the Federal Fire Service.
He added that available records and information had shown that the Ministry of Interior had operated without a strategic plan, noting that “the required synergy to drive the internal security has been absent, hence, the current level of gaps in security management in the country.”
