The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has suspended its nationwide strike and directed all members to return to work on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
In a communiqué signed by the union’s National Vice President and 10 other executive members, JUSUN said the decision followed extensive deliberations and meetings with the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun; the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Dingyadi; the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC); and other key stakeholders.
The union noted that it agreed to suspend the strike in good faith to honor the intervention by the Chief Justice and other stakeholders. The agreement includes a commitment from the federal government to release judiciary funds within a month.
The communiqué stated that upon the release of funds, JUSUN’s demands—implementation of the ₦70,000 minimum wage, payment of arrears, a 25/35% salary increment, and a five-month wage award—will be fully implemented.
