Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has issued a public apology following an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
In a statement personally signed and released by the veteran musician, he expressed deep regret over the situation and extended apologies to all parties involved—including the Presidency, Ministry of Aviation, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and ValueJet Airline.
Clarifying the circumstances surrounding the incident, K1 strongly denied reports that he was carrying alcohol in his personal flask, insisting it contained only water. He explained that he suffers from chronic dehydration and has been medically advised to stay hydrated at all times, hence his habit of carrying a water flask.
“Contrary to the negative narrative being circulated in some quarters, the flask I carried on that particular day contained only water — not alcohol, as wrongly alleged,” the singer stated. He added that the flask was filled with water at the airport lounge, not before security screening, and emphasised that he had not boarded the plane at the time the issue arose.
K1 acknowledged the concerns the incident may have raised and said he had no intention to flout aviation rules or cause any disruption. He maintained his loyalty to Nigeria and his commitment to promoting the country’s image through his decades-long music career.
“My unwavering patriotism and unshaken loyalty to the Federal Republic of Nigeria have never been in doubt,” he said. “I would never do anything to tarnish the image I’ve built over the past five decades.”
The musician concluded by offering an unreserved and heartfelt apology to all stakeholders and fans who may have been affected or disappointed by the incident.
