The Executive Secretary of the board, Dr Aminu Salisu-Tsauri, announced this in a statement issued in Katsina on Tuesday.

According to him, the approval represents not only the governor’s unwavering passion for human capital development but also his steadfast belief that education remains the bedrock of peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.

He explained, “Since the inception of this administration, the government has consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment to students’ welfare, with bursary disbursements.

“The government had disbursed more than ₦637.9million to 47,935 students (2020/2021 fresh and 2021/2022 continuing students, while ₦544.2 million was also disbursed to 37,802 students (2021/2022 fresh and 2022/2023 continuing.

Salisu-Tsauri further said that these categories would be officially unveiled during the forthcoming inauguration ceremony, during which the governor would be formally conferred.

According to him, with these interventions, the total number of beneficiaries now stands at an unprecedented 174,461 students.

He said, “The scholarship board is making all necessary arrangements to ensure seamless and timely disbursement of the newly-approved bursary funds.

“Beyond local support, Radda has lifted the state to the global stage by sponsoring students across the state to study abroad in highly specialised and competitive fields.”

Recall that the government in August revoked licences for all private and community schools operating across the state.

The state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Zainab Musa-Musawa, in a circular, said the policy aimed at ensuring quality assurance, standardisation, and effective regulation of teaching and learning across Katsina.
