Death Toll Surpasses 1,000 As Myanmar And Thailand Reel From The Devastating Earthquake.
The death toll from a huge earthquake that hit Myanmar and Thailand on Friday has passed 1,000 Today, as rescuers dug through the rubble of the collapsed buildings in a desperate search for survivors.
The 7.7-magnitude quake, with an epicenter of about 10 miles(16.09km), was later followed by a 6.4-magnitude aftershock, which struck northwest of Sagaing, Central Myanmar.
Rescue efforts are underway, with teams desperately searching for survivors in the ruins left behind by the devastating disaster, that also affected Mandalay, the country’s second-biggest city and abode to over 1.7 million people.

“We need aid,” said Thar Aye, a 68-year-old resident of Mandalay. “We don’t have enough of anything”.
About 1,007 lives were lost, close to 2,400 were injured, and 30 were declared missing.
