The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved seven additional undergraduate degree programs for Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere Ekiti (BOUESTI), bringing the institution’s total accredited programs to 85 within just five years of establishment.
According to a statement released on Monday by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Temitope Akinbisoye, the newly approved programs are B.Sc. Data Science, B.Sc. Public Relations, B.Sc. Advertising, B.Sc. Broadcasting, B.Sc. Journalism, B.Sc. Brewing Science, and B.Sc. Crop Science. These programs will commence in the 2025/2026 academic session.
Akinbisoye disclosed that the approval followed a successful resource assessment exercise conducted by the NUC in April 2025. The confirmation was contained in a letter dated July 28, 2025, and signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning at the NUC, Abubakar Girei.
“With this latest addition, the number of approved academic programs in BOUESTI has risen to 85, all secured within just five years of the institution’s establishment. This remarkable feat further underscores the university’s rapid academic expansion, commitment to quality education, and responsiveness to the dynamic demands of the 21st-century workforce,” Akinbisoye said.
Reacting to the development, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Adeoluwa, expressed gratitude to the NUC for its continued support and pledged that BOUESTI would remain committed to its vision of being a centre of excellence for teaching, research, and community development.
He also commended the dedication and contributions of the staff across the relevant schools and departments that led to the successful outcome of the resource verification.
“BOUESTI has continued to grow in leaps and bounds, constantly breaking new ground and shattering glass ceilings in the Nigerian higher education landscape,” the statement added.
