The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has alleged that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, is working against him despite his role in helping Ooni ascend the throne.

In a video from a recent Ramadan lecture in Iwo, confirmed by his press secretary, Oluwo claimed he influenced Oba Ogunwusi’s appointment in 2015 by helping resolve a legal case that could have hindered his selection. He recounted how a mutual associate, Akin Daodu, connected them and how he intervened to clear the path for Ogunwusi’s enthronement.

However, Oluwo expressed disappointment, accusing the Ooni of orchestrating his suspension from the Osun State Council of Obas and supporting opposition within Iwoland. He further alleged that Ooni played a role in his marital issues and attempts to remove him as Oluwo.

In response, Ooni’s spokesperson, Chief Moses Olafare, dismissed the allegations, stating that Oba Ogunwusi remains focused on developmental projects and has no interest in engaging with Oluwo’s claims. He emphasised that the Ooni would not be distracted by such remarks.
