OVER 6.8 MILLION NIGERIANS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE VOTER REGISTRATION – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that a total of 6,859,800 Nigerians has completed the pre-online phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as of October 5.

The update was contained in INEC’s Week Six report, published on its official website and cited by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.

According to the commission, 52.23% (3,583,135) of those who registered were female, while 47.77% (3,276,665) were male.

INEC also reported that: 4,689,637 of the applicants fall within the 18–34 age group, indicating strong youth participation, 1,728,384 identified as students, 154,479 were registered as Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs).

In addition to the online registration figures, INEC revealed that 1,216,048 Nigerians had completed their physical registration as of October 5.

This figure includes: 658,766 individuals who completed their registration after initially registering online, 557,282 individuals who completed the entire process physically. Of the total completed registrations: 675,222 (55.53%) were female, 540,826 (44.47%) were male, 897,676 were youths aged 18–34, reaffirming the trend of strong youth engagement.

A further breakdown by occupation showed that: 424,126 students completed their registration, 17,450 PWDs were also fully registered during the period under review.

INEC continues to encourage eligible Nigerians to participate in the ongoing CVR exercise to ensure they are able to vote in the 2027 general elections.
