The Northern Elders Unity Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a strong condemnation of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and his allies, accusing them of attempting to sabotage the PDP and weaken opposition politics in Nigeria.
In a communiqué issued after its 18th General Meeting, the Forum expressed unwavering confidence in PDP Acting National Chairman Ambassador Iliya Umar Damagum and condemned efforts by some party members to disrupt the upcoming national convention set for November 15th–16th in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Dr. Abbas Sadauki, the Forum’s National Secretary, described attempts to derail the convention as “desperate” and said the party’s unity would not be broken by intimidation, blackmail, or lies.
He accused certain members of the PDP National Working Committee of colluding with external political forces to destabilize the party, labeling these groups as “jokers” and “predators” acting against the party’s interests.
The sabotage, the Forum alleged, is driven by Wike’s political ambitions, with tactics including court cases and misuse of power to undermine the PDP efforts they vowed would ultimately fail.
The Forum reaffirmed full solidarity with Ambassador Damagum and other loyalists, praising their dedication to rebuilding the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
It also warned the judiciary and President Bola Tinubu against manipulation by “desperate elements” seeking to undermine democracy, urging institutions to resist such interference.
Reiterating absolute loyalty to the PDP leadership, the Forum insisted the National Executive Committee’s decision to proceed with the convention must be respected by all members to preserve the party’s unity and future.
