Peter Okoye

Peter Okoye of P-Square has testified against his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, in a ₦1.3 billion money laundering trial at the Federal High Court in Lagos. Jude, alongside his company, Northside Music Ltd., is being prosecuted by the EFCC on a seven-count charge involving ₦1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.

The case, presided over by Justice Alexander Owoeye, was triggered by a petition Peter filed against Jude. Peter, the first prosecution witness, told the court how Jude allegedly mismanaged the group’s finances during his time as manager. He explained that Jude was the sole signatory to the group’s bank accounts and denied him access to funds during their separation between 2017 and 2021.

Peter revealed that issues began when funding for his house project was suddenly stopped, and Jude failed to provide proper financial transparency. He also claimed Jude created a separate company, Northside Music Ltd., through which he allegedly diverted funds. Peter said he discovered the irregularities when potential buyers of their albums requested financial statements, which he could not provide.

Jude has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
