The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has confirmed the arrest of 26 suspects linked to the recent massacre in Yelwata, Benue State, where 47 people were killed.
Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, Egbetokun said the suspects were apprehended through coordinated efforts, and more arrests are expected as investigations continue. Two individuals initially detained were later cleared.
He also disclosed that 22 suspects arrested in Jos over the killing of nine travellers en route to a wedding in Quanpan would be arraigned soon.
The IGP assured Nigerians that the police remain committed to mopping up illegal arms and tightening border security. The arrests follow President Tinubu’s order last week for immediate action against the perpetrators.
