The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that Pastor Paul Adefarasin, founder of the House on the Rock Church, has reported himself for questioning over a viral video in which he was seen holding a gun-like object during an encounter on the road.
In a statement posted on the Command’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, the police maintained that “no one is above the law.”
According to the statement, Pastor Adefarasin presented himself at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja, where he is currently being interrogated by detectives. The investigation, the police said, began after a video surfaced showing the cleric in an unregistered vehicle, appearing to hold a metallic object during a heated interaction with another road user.
The Command assured the public that the outcome of the investigation would be made known in due course.
The viral clip, which has stirred widespread reactions online, captured Adefarasin holding what many viewers claimed to be a firearm while engaging with someone off-camera who was recording the incident.
In response, the pastor addressed the issue via a message to his congregation, which was also shared on his verified social media accounts. He denied brandishing a weapon, describing the situation as a misunderstanding.
He explained that the item in question was not a firearm and that it was never pointed at anyone during the exchange.
