Politicians Defecting To APC Driven By Stomach Infrastructure – Tambuwal

Aminu Tambuwal, former governor of Sokoto State and prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has strongly criticized the recent wave of defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC), attributing them to what he termed “stomach infrastructure” rather than genuine national interest.
Speaking in Kaduna after the North-West zone meeting of the PDP’s National Executive Council (NEC) on Saturday, Tambuwal lambasted the economic policies of the APC-led government, describing them as responsible for the country’s current hardships.
He emphasized that no conscientious politician would align with the ruling party given the prevailing economic challenges.
“People leave parties for certain reasons or for different reasons, but what I have been observing is that defections are not based on the interest of the people but based on stomach infrastructure,” Tambuwal stated.
Highlighting the dissatisfaction among politicians defecting from the PDP to the APC, Tambuwal underscored the unattractiveness of APC membership amidst economic doldrums and what he referred to as the “dismal performance” of the administration.
He criticized the lack of focus, compassion, and direction within the APC-led government, asserting that the country needs a unified effort to unseat the ruling party in the upcoming 2027 elections.
“If you are a politician with a conscience, with the current policies being driven by the government of the APC, there is nothing attractive outside stomach infrastructure,” Tambuwal remarked.
Tambuwal called for unity among those who believe in the service of the people and the betterment of Nigeria, urging concerted efforts to chart a course for change in the political landscape ahead of the next electoral cycle. {platformtimes}
