Ribadu Denies El-Rufai’s Allegation, Says He Has No 2031 Presidential Ambition

Written by on February 25, 2025

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has dismissed allegations by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, that he is working to tarnish his reputation due to a supposed 2031 presidential ambition.

Reacting via a statement on his official X handle late Monday, Ribadu stated that if remaining silent would not be misconstrued as consent, he would have ignored the claims entirely. He firmly denied any collaboration with individuals seeking to discredit El-Rufai, emphasizing that he has never discussed contesting for the presidency in 2031 with anyone.

According to the NSA, his sole focus remains on ensuring the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the progress of the nation. He urged the public to disregard the former governor’s allegations.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized El-Rufai over his remarks against President Tinubu and Ribadu. The party’s National Vice Chairman (South East), Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu, described El-Rufai’s comments as “pathetic” and unwarranted.
