Super Falcons forward Rasheedat Ajibade has completed a transfer to French giants Paris Saint-Germain Féminines, signing a contract that will keep her at the club until June 30, 2027.
The club announced her arrival on Tuesday, describing the Nigerian international as an exciting addition to their squad. Ajibade, popularly known as “Mummy G.O.,” expressed delight at the move, calling it a major step in her career.
“I’m deeply honoured to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, a top-drawer club in Europe. This is a major step for me, and I’m committed to giving my all to help PSG win titles and inspire young footballers, be they in Nigeria or elsewhere,” she said.
Ajibade joins PSG from Atlético Madrid Femenino, where she spent four and a half seasons after moving from Norwegian side Avaldsnes IL in 2021. During her time in Spain, she scored 40 goals in 139 appearances, winning the 2021 Spanish Super Cup and the 2023 Copa de la Reina.
Her switch to the French capital comes on the heels of her outstanding performance at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where she captained Nigeria to a record-extending 10th title and was named Player of the Tournament.
The Lagos-born striker, who turns 26 in December, has also represented Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the women’s football event of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Ajibade is expected to link up with fellow Nigerian international Jennifer Echegini at PSG as the Parisian side strengthens its squad for domestic and European competitions.
