Exactly one year after Omah Lay cryptically revealed that someone in the industry had stolen his album concept, fresh drama has surfaced and this time, a name is being mentioned.

Allegations erupted after a burner Instagram account @thestoryofanangel, rumored to be linked to Omah Lay, appeared to accuse fellow Nigerian star Rema of taking inspiration from an unreleased project. The account also allegedly laid claim to Davido’s hit single “With You”, suggesting Omah Lay originally owned the track and gave it to Davido a claim that quickly went viral.

But soon after, doubts began to arise. Digitals detectives discovered that the screenshots circulating weren’t from the alleged burner account, and the post claiming ownership of “With You” was debunked as fake. Resurfaced videos from producer Tempoe backed this up, confirming Davido had recorded three songs and asked Omah Lay to choose one he chose “With you”, dismissing the idea that it was ever “gifted.”

Still, the tension didn’t end there.

Omah Lay’s close associate, Veinzell, poured fuel on the fire by leaking alleged DMs between Omah Lay and Rema from 2023. In the chats, Omah reportedly shared a new sound concept called “Mara” with Rema, who was seeking collaboration. According to Veinzell, Rema later released his HEIS album, allegedly mirroring the sound and concept pushing Omah Lay to reportedly scrap and rebuild his project.

Veinzell insists the leaked messages are real, claiming they were sourced directly from Rema’s Instagram DMs, and even dared Rema to deny it publicly. But fans are torn. While some are defending Omah Lay and dragging Rema for “idea theft,” others argue that Omah is leveraging Rema’s name for promo, especially with a new album expected soon his first since 2022.

Rema, for his part, once addressed similar issues in a past interview, stating:

“Ideas are dynamic just because you conceived it first doesn’t mean you’ll be the first to execute.”

As tensions rise, Omah Lay’s fans are citing Rema’s past controversies including an old tweet where he confessed to stealing a laptop in 2017 while Rema’s supporters are calling bluff on the entire narrative, branding the leaks as a PR stunt.
