Minister of Works David Umahi and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reversed years of federal infrastructural neglect in the South-East region of Nigeria.

Umahi made the statement during the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir celebration with the Muslim community in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

He said the current administration has brought visible federal projects to many South-East states, which were previously sidelined.

“Today, federal presence is seen across the region. That is true national integration,” he said.

Umahi also commended President Tinubu’s efforts at promoting religious and ethnic inclusion. He described the president’s attendance at the Pope’s inauguration as a historic gesture, reflecting respect for all faiths.

He addressed initial concerns about the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket, noting that Christians currently occupy about 62 percent of federal appointments under Tinubu’s government.

Umahi urged the South-East to focus on reintegration and national unity, rather than isolation. He called on the people of the region to support the current administration and ignore divisive narratives.

“President Tinubu has started the process of bringing the South-East back into national leadership. We must not waste this opportunity,” he said.

The minister reaffirmed his loyalty to the president, describing him as a sincere leader committed to national development.

Muslim community leaders, including Sariki Danjuma Gambo and Salis Mohammed, also expressed appreciation for the peaceful coexistence in the state and pledged their support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid.
