President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing Nigeria’s power challenges, emphasizing that improving electricity supply remains central to his government’s agenda for national development and better living standards.
Speaking yesterday, Tinubu stated that his administration is “taking power very seriously” as part of its broader effort to enhance productivity, attract investment, and improve the livelihoods of Nigerians.
He explained that stable and affordable electricity is a critical driver of economic growth and social progress, adding that the government is implementing reforms aimed at modernizing the energy sector, strengthening transmission and distribution networks, and encouraging private sector participation.
“The issue of power is not just about infrastructure; it’s about the economy and the quality of life of our people,” the President said. “We are taking power very seriously because it is fundamental to our vision of a prosperous, self-reliant Nigeria where businesses can thrive, and citizens can enjoy a decent standard of living.”
Tinubu also noted that the federal government is collaborating with state governments and international partners to expand generation capacity through renewable and conventional energy sources, while ensuring transparency and accountability in the sector.
He urged Nigerians to remain patient and supportive as ongoing reforms begin to yield tangible results, assuring that his administration is determined to deliver sustainable energy solutions that will power homes, industries, and innovation across the country.
“Our goal is simple,” he said. “To ensure every Nigerian, whether in the city or in rural areas, has access to reliable and affordable electricity. That is how we will truly enhance the livelihoods of our people.”
