Wike and Fubara
Former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has expressed doubts about the success of his successor, Siminalayi Fubara, as governor.
Addressing a large gathering of his supporters on Saturday, Wike claimed that Fubara has surrounded himself with individuals who do not have the state’s best interests at heart. He alleged that these were the same people who had vied for the governorship position but were denied the opportunity.
Mocking Fubara, Wike referenced the Supreme Court’s ruling, which mandated the governor to re-present the 2025 budget to the Martin Amaewhule-led 27 lawmakers and reconduct local government elections.
“You surrounded yourself with people who wanted to be governor, whom I rejected because they don’t mean well for Rivers State,” Wike said. “Now, they are the ones advising you. Do you think you will succeed? They are giving you bad advice, and you are already down 2-0. There’s more to come.” (dailypost)
